How could Anthropic’s IPO compare with other major AI and technology IPOs?
The company is preparing for a potentially record-breaking IPO, with its valuation expected to reach about $2 trillion and potentially come close to SpaceX’s valuation.

CNN reported on Tuesday that a leaked IPO filing obtained by Reuters reveals that Anthropic, one of the top AI companies, spent 80 pages outlining the risk factors linked to the company's AI models. Among them, the main one is “catastrophic or existential risk to humanity.”

Anthropic has been particularly vocal in the last few months about the safety concerns related to AI. The recent revelations by Coxon put the company more in the spotlight than the “Pacing the Frontier” letter and the statements of Dario Amodei.

The declaration went viral and was so widely discussed that even Elon Musk talked about it — calling it a setup — and, more importantly, OpenAI's Sam Altman publicly announced that the company would delay its IPO because it would be “ill-advised” at a time of strong concerns about safety.

In a few months, Anthropic went from being blocked by the White House to constantly being under the spotlight for focusing intensively on safety and responsibility in AI development. Now, the company — which was expected to go public in October 2026 — is preparing for a record IPO, which might be very close to SpaceX's in terms of valuation next year. Its valuation is expected to be about $2 trillion, but the constant spotlight and the global positioning as the responsible builder could lead the company to achieve the absolute record IPO.

If at the beginning of 2026 we expected three record IPOs, SpaceX raised the bar and the White House slowed down Anthropic's path. In the meantime, OpenAI decided on a wise step back — will the ChatGPT creator be able to recover?
