Bright Answers
What new term did Trump propose for artificial intelligence?
Trump said the U.S. and, hopefully, the world would start using “super intelligence” instead of “artificial intelligence.”
Why does Trump want to change the terminology?
Trump said the word “artificial” makes the technology sound “fake” and does not accurately represent what it is capable of doing.
What other statement did Trump make about artificial intelligence?
Before announcing the terminology change, Trump rejected attempts to construct a global scheme to control artificial intelligence.
On Sept. 22, 2026, U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the UN General Assembly to, among other arguments, communicate that from that moment, the U.S., “and hopefully the world,” would start using the word “Super” instead of “Artificial” to refer to what has so far been known as artificial intelligence.
The replacement will occur also in official documents. The change comes from Trump’s view that the word "artificial" makes the technology sound "fake", not accurately represeting what it is and what it is capable to do.

Before communicating the new name, Trump officially refused the potential attempts of global leaders to regulate artificial intelligence. In the words of Trump, the U.S. "rejects any attempt to construct a global scheme to control for the artificial intelligence, being spoken about so much now, here and after officially called Super Intelligence."
Trump continued by explaining that the word “artificial” makes this technology sound fake, while “it’s actually amazing, but we have to be careful.”
The official U.S. rebranding follows a more important statement — rejecting an attempted globalised regulation of artificial intelligence — puts us one step backward again and shows the growing geopolitical importance of the technology itself.
